The
Apuan Riviera extends for about 15 Km and borders to west
by the Cinquale stream mouth and east the river Magra mouth. It's
a beautiful coast line, rich of beaches and pinewoods,
which offers entertainment and up-to-date bathing establishments
such as to give the opportunity to spend the most restful and pleasant
holidays.
Apart from the traditional "beach-living", the
neighbourhood of the Apuan Alps and their naturalistic
Regional Park of more than 54,000 hectares, allows the tourist
to make wonderful hikes, on the winding footpaths through the wild
nature, marked by the Italian Alpine Club, even reaching the highest
Apuan peaks of nearly 2,000 meters.
Also the underground, which is considered
one of the most interesting expression of the Karst phenomenon in
Italy, with its caves, its chasms, its passages and galleries, thus
making it the destination for many speleologists from all

This land is full of history: rich in ancient
villages and Romanesque and medieval castles,
rich in curative waters, still well known from the very past.
The traditional "alla massese" way of cooking
has taken its important place in the cookery, with its simple and
old fashioned tastes; typical food is still served in many restaurants
of the area, at times matched with the rare Candia wine,
whose grapes are only grown in the vineyards of the surrounding
hills.
The closeness and the facility in reaching many
important Italian art cities, such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca
or Genoa, give to the Apuan Riviera the characteristic of being
an important and preferential resort even for the tourist coming
from abroad.
